Maps of Cheung Chau
Cheung Chau is shaped roughly like a dumbbell with a northern and southern end which are hilly, and in between a low lying strip of buildings which is the village. On the right hand easterly side of this strip are the two main swimming beaches, while the Cheung Chau harbour is on the western side.
A typhoon shelter bars the entrance to the harbour making it a safe anchorage for the island fishing fleet during bad weather. Boats from neighbouring islands shelter here during typhoons.
